The use of fresh sea water
This week the Advanced Biofilm Course (7 – 12 Oct. 2019) toke place, organized by BioTech Delft. During this course 24 participants from industry and universities learned all about biofilms: biofilm imaging, microsensor techniques and mathematical modelling. One of the things needed for this course was fresh sea water. The sea water was used for maintaining photosynthetic biofilms (from the beaches in Denmark) in small aquaria while measuring rates of photosynthesis, respiration and light with electrochemical microsensors.
